Re: Maybe we are alone in the universe
Maybe not for a 2 way dialogue but we could detect a race using the quite or quiter areas of the spectrum.
Morrison and Cocconi considered how well the types of electromagnetic waves passed through interstellar space. While space is usually described as a vacuum, it does contain some gas and dust. Over great distances that gas and dust absorb many types of radiation but radio waves pass through nearly unimpeded. For interstellar communication, a particular range of radio frequencies, “microwaves” from 1 GHz to 10 GHz, are particularly good choices. At lower frequencies our galaxy emits prodigious amounts of radio waves creating a loud background of noise. At higher frequencies the Earth’s atmosphere, and presumably the atmosphere of other Earth-like planets, absorbs and emits broad ranges of radio frequencies. The result is a quiet “Microwave Window” through which efficient radio communication is possible.
Signals produced by technology for communication can be much narrower than any known astrophysical source......

True but my point is not to have a chat but to detect their existence.BigP wrote: ↑Wed Jul 11, 2018 6:26 pmSuper Nova wrote: ↑Wed Jul 11, 2018 6:13 pmMaybe not for a 2 way dialogue but we could detect a race using the quite or quiter areas of the spectrum.

I really hope there is intellegent life out there.
Because I'm damn sure there is none on Earth.
Because I'm damn sure there is none on Earth.
I have a dream
A world free from the plague of Islam
A world that has never known the horrors of the cult of death.
My hope is that in time, Islam will be nothing but a bad dream

Couldn't agree more. The only leader on earth who seems to be making a difference is Trump, America's economy is booming, and he just gets constant hate from the luvvies

Re: Maybe we are alone in the universe
It seems that we have a Lemming syndrome.
Continually trying to find more and more inventive ways to kill and torture each other
Even the most innocent inventions are twisted into weapons.
And everyone will do anything for money, no matter how much it poisions people or the environment.
We truely are a sad species.

Intelligence leads to destruction of beings.
That is why we don't find any other civilisations in the galaxy -
they always wipe themselves out quickly -
not long after they discover nuclear weapons.
We are only here from short term luck.
