No, only if you have drifted into bad habits.

I agree. Too much is bad. In moderation it's good.

However there is little choice today if you eat out. You don't know what you are getting. We are starting to eat more like my parents did. Basic food. meat and 3 veg is my favourite now but for years give me a good MSG ridden Chinese full of sugar and salt and I would have been happy.

Love MSG, some Chinese food without it is just bland in comparison, put it in my beef satay anytime.

MSG gives me a serious headache. It's difficult to buy any processed or takeaway food because of the preservatives, chemicals, fat, salt, sugar etc. If you can - prepare your own fresh food.

Yes apparently some people have a bad reaction to it... I don't.

If food is so bland that it needs enhancing it isn't worth consuming imo. I watched a friend almost die from a severe reaction to MSG a few years ago. Now she can't even eat tomatoes.

Why can't she eat tomatoes?

I haven't used salt in cooking for eons. If you want a bit of salt on your food, you choose to use it, once it is served.

I thought Chinese restaurants stopped using MSG and advertised that they didn't?

I read yesterday it takes a 6.3 km walk to burn the KJ from a can of coke.
I am addicted to it... No doubt.
I've become worse since I gave up my addiction to nicotine about three years ago. Now I just binge on junk food and I've put on ten kg in that time.

Everything in moderation is the way I live my life.

MSG occurs naturally in some foods including tomatoes, some cheeses etc. She is apparently highly allergic to it and a trip to an asian restaurant tipped her over the edge and almost killed her. It is hidden it in many foods under numbers and names and is not always listed as 621 etc.

Most Chinese and Thai restaurants still use it but those that don't advertise that they don't. Usually.
