Not much room under my bonnet,
The 3.0 litre engine and all the associated hardware, leaves little room for any air flow.

Hiding behind the huge headlight it gets very little cool air..

The Valkyrie had the battery directly behind the engine, under the seat.
That was a very hot spot as when the air flowed through the radiator over the motor and under the seat, tgere was no cool air at all.
Could be why it chewed batteries so often.

Some good news today.
Old Tom's wife got out of hospital today.
Sadly, the prognosis isn't good, her liver and kidneys are shutting down.
She is 80something, but it's still sad.

He hopes she will make Xmas, and he has asked all his family to come for Xmas, possibly her last.
I have a dream
A world free from the plague of Islam
A world that has never known the horrors of the cult of death.
My hope is that in time, Islam will be nothing but a bad dream

Hi Valkie,
I think you worry unnecessarily.
There is a lot of air flowing around under the bonnet due to the radiator fan.
Maybe it's a problem on over 40 degree days?

Failing batteries may have more to do with poor quality:
metal plates being too thin causing buckling,
impurities in the chemicals,
over charging etc.

Old Tom's wife may be near the end of her innings.
It will happen to us all.

We lost a member of the rescue organisation this week.
Cancer.
That's the trouble with old fart volunteer organisations, they tend to pass on frequently.
I only found out last night when I was on duty, missed the funeral.

We have one bloke, salt of the earth, nicest bloke you could ever meet.
Had so many chunks of his body hacked off from skin cancer he almost isn't there.

His favorite joke is that there will be less of him to burn when he dies and therefore he is doing his bit for climate change.
Imagine being as resilient as he, I know I couldn't be.
There are some real treasures out there.

I'm off to the pool in an hour for my swim.
I'm comfortable at 1.5 k now, ill start picking up the pace next month.
Met an old guy on Wednesday who had a pacemaker, one ear missing, one foot missing and who is virtually blind.
80 something last month.
Says he swims so he can live another couple of weeks longer.
Thankfully he was in the next lane, I'm slow takes me about 50 seconds a lap, but he must take a full minute.
If I swam that slow I'd sink, but he just plods until he does 1 k and off he wanders.

I guess the faster swimmers think the same about me.
I hate squad training, they lap me so many times I feel like i'm in a washing machine.
Getting old is a bitch.

We're all getting too old Valkie.
I've got various problems too that I won't go into.

You got that right.

Why is it that as you get older and have more free time, you cant enjoy it as much?

I recon we got life backward.

You have just piqued a thought.

Batteries don't like hot environments, shortens their lives.
Yet they are placed under the bonnet with a hot engine, and more heat funneled in past hot radiators, heat exchangers and air conditioning radiators.

Bike batteries are even worse, placed under seats directly above hot air cooled engines with nowhere to dispel the hot air around them.

I wonder if I run a cooling duct to the battery, if it would extend its life?
Any extra cooling under a bonnet will help
Right Wing is the Natural Progression.
