I think they are just 10 years ahead of us consumers. The law will change leaving us no choice but to start going this way.
Imagine running out of power in the outback....
As to ugly... i feel all the cars now look the same between makers, maybe they are trying to differentiate.... they should go the E-Type Jag look, that would help.

Tesla was designed by boffins, not designers.
I was told they used several components around the wheel arch, where Toyota uses one.
