What do you think about Sparta?
The topic of Sparta keeps coming back every day.
I am thinking long and hard about it.
Access to Sparta is causing major friction with some posters.
Some members have access and others don't.
I am wondering if Sparta is something we really want here at Polanimal?
PROS :
(1) you can make a post there containing personal information about yourself
that you wouldn't normally post in a public forum.
(2) you can talk about other people behind their back without them knowing about it.
(3) you can be more honest than you're likely to be than in an open forum.
(4) swear words and foul language are more tolerated than on the main board.
(5) people can have terrible arguments without it
staining the reputation of the whole forum in public.
(6) sometimes you want to tell only a small group of people
what you're thinking - not the whole world.
CONS:
(1) It becomes a place where old members can rejoin and trawl through it for evidence
if they feel they have a feud/vendetta against another poster or someone has a feud against them.
(2) It keeps posting activity off the main board so doesn't encourage new members.
(3) It keeps posters fighting each other for years on end.
(4) It has to be closed off to new members for 3 months due
to an element of trust required before letting anyone in there.
(5) Is it right to allow people to talk about each other behind their backs?
Some people would say no - others love it.
(6) Sparta can cause paranoia for people locked out of it.
Please post your thoughts and comments in this open thread.

Re: What do you think about Sparta?
Bobby...it is obvious. I have no problem with the existence of Sparta. No-one would. I have a problem with it being a place where arseholes like Neferti have posted total rubbish behind my back and it has resulted in a pathetic unsupported malicious slur people run with elsewhere.
For example. Apparently (according to you) Lisa Jones has said here that Mr Smith has actually and in real life stalked her. You have believed her, and Mr Smith has had zero chance to address it. That is the grave problem.
Just open it up and let the consequences fall where they should at the feet of arseholes. Clear the air with transparency. Keeping it all hidden just makes it all the worse.

Aussie,
I haven't seen any evidence of Nef. posting stuff about you there -
however - it would be like looking for a needle in a haystack.
OK - so one of the cons is that Sparta causes paranoia.
I will add that to the list of CONS.
Lisa told me about John by PM not in Sparta.
It was not discussed in Sparta if my memory serves me correctly.
So do you like the idea of a secret Sparta room or not?

No.....I don't and I have said why.Bobby wrote: ↑Sat Jun 19, 2021 6:34 pmAussie wrote: ↑Sat Jun 19, 2021 6:28 pmBobby...it is obvious. I have no problem with the existence of Sparta. No-one would. Finding material of the kind I have referred to will be easy. The Mole has been able to publicly provide evidence. Should be easy to find that.
Easier for you to just open it up and allow the chips to fall where they should.

Re: What do you think about Sparta?
Hi Nef,
I would like many long pages of discussion first.
This is our chance - it's Aussie's chance too -
it's a chance for all members to rebuild Polanimal into the forum they always wanted.
Do you see how nothing is off the table?
It's all transparent.
Re: What do you think about Sparta?
Why is there a distinction between....'our'......and 'Aussie?' Am I not part of 'our?'
More relevantly Bobby.....it is likely the last chance this Forum has......and you will not want to be the guy holding the tiller while the place finally sinks.

I don't care about the constitution or petitions or voting. There is only one alternative ... accidentally DELETE it. There is absolutely NOTHING there that would be worth reading anyway, unless you are a masochist and like reading about what others think of you. That would sure fix your EGO. Kerplunk!
Your "real name" and other personal stuff is NOT anywhere in Sparta. Believe me. I did NOT post anything about that at PA. The audience is too small and you weren't here to see it.

Then you should just shut up. I am not going to continue in a discussion with you when it become obvious how moronic you truly are.Neferti~ wrote: ↑Sat Jun 19, 2021 6:54 pmI don't care about the constitution or petitions or voting.
