I don't know how many of those have died. But, not a good thing, at all.

That's "known " cases in the denominator. How many millions never sought medical attention. I have 2 in my home alone.

information on blood platelets

Thought I read the astra zeneca blood clotting symptom arises from a low platelet count.
Seems a bit awry. Can anyone help my understanding?

ok, from what I read.
Blood clots are forming excessively even though the blood platelet count is low.

A low platelet count should lower clotting.
Perhaps clots are forming, so your body ceases platelets to allow the clots to clear?

The number of people who have died worldwide in the Covid-19 pandemic has surpassed three million, according to Johns Hopkins University.

The milestone comes the day after the head of the World Health Organization (WHO) warned the world was "approaching the highest rate of infection" so far.

India - experiencing a second wave - recorded more than 230,000 new cases on Saturday alone.
Almost 140 million cases have been recorded since the pandemic began.
WHO chief Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warned on Friday that "cases and deaths are continuing to increase at worrying rates".
