Astra Zeneca.

This is an extremely interesting article on Astra Zeneca.
It would appear to me that the conditions under which a trial (of anything) is
conducted cannot or should not be changed after the trial has commenced.
Otherwise, the results are confusing and extremely misleading.
AZ in my opinion are simply window dressing their vaccine.
This is the vaccine we are going to receive in Australia.
I note in this regard that SkyNews (Andrew Clennell) is suggesting
that AZ may stop transmission of the virus.
Perhaps Mr. Clennell should read the above link...
I also note that numerous European countries have declined to give AZ to
people over 65 just yet..Switzerland joining the queue recently...

Quote from the link:
"Part of the concern has to do with the fact that the AstraZeneca study underwent a number of changes after the Phase 3 trial was begun, a fact that, some infectious disease experts say, makes it difficult to interpret the results. For a clinical trial as crucial as this one, modifying the setup once it’s underway is similar to changing the rules in the middle of a game. The study originally set out to investigate a single dose of vaccine, but was changed to two doses when concurrently conducted early studies showed that two set doses of the vaccine produced a stronger immune response.

Further, because of what AstraZeneca said were mistakes in measuring doses, some people in the study in the U.K. received a half dose for their first shot and a full dose for the second one. People also got different placebos—some got a benign meningococcal solution and some a saline solution. That could mean nothing, but it is also unusual to have two different placebos."

Australia’s health minister has responded after South Africa suspended its rollout of the coronavirus vaccine.

South Africa was due to inoculate one million health care workers with the AstraZeneca vaccine in a matter of days when it halted the process.

Health officials there raised concerns the vaccine was not as effective in preventing mild to moderate illness from the dominant variant strain in the country.

“The AstraZeneca vaccine appeared effective against the original strain, but not against the variant,” Health Minister Zweli Mkhize said, according to an Associated Press report.

“We have decided to put a temporary hold on the rollout of the vaccine ... more work needs to be done.”

It barely works on the original. I doubt it's going to work on any of the variants.

And surprise surprise...Hunt comes out and says Australia is proceeding with the AZ rollout.
BUT but but...he has to ...he cant say hhmm...we're going to suspend the rollout...
That would make the Australian Government look like idiots....
AND the Australian public...(well..most of them...) just lap it up...
Ive lost count of the number of overseas countries pausing their uptake of AZ...
Its something like this that will see our rollout to be less successful than what the government expects...
"We have decided to put a temporary hold on the rollout of the vaccine..more work needs to be done"
A polite way of saying.."It doesnt work..."
BUT the Ostrayan public will still get the jab...
Line up lab rats......line up.... :rofl

Portugal has now joined that list.
Poland restricts it to under 60s
Spain and Italy restricts it to under 55s
South Africa has paused the rollout completely.
MEANWHILE, in Ostraya....

"After initially announcing a pause in its rollout, on Monday South African authorities said the vaccine would be rolled out in a "stepped manner" by issuing 100,000 doses to see if it prevents hospitalisations and deaths.

The head of South Africa's vaccine program has said further study of the effectiveness of the AstraZeneca jab is vital.

Professor Salim Abdool Karim said it would be important to track the next 100,000 people who get the AstraZeneca jab, to see how sick they become.

"What we're dealing with is a situation where new evidence is becoming available all the time," he said."

Is that an experiment or is that an experiment....
