All I know is what they said on 7 News. They said he got abusive and out of control, had a knife on his person, was taken to hospital, was released after a couple of hours because the doctors couldn't find anything wrong with him ... and then charged (because he was full of shit).

NSW records 1,599 new COVID-19 cases and eight deaths

NSW recorded 1,599 locally acquired COVID-19 cases in the 24 hours to 8:00pm yesterday.

There were eight COVID-19 deaths in the reporting period.

All of the COVID-19 patients who died were unvaccinated and had underlying health conditions.

A man in his 30s who died at his home in western Sydney and a man in his 40s who died at his home in south-west Sydney both later tested positive to COVID-19.

Health Minister Brad Hazzard said a number of people who became seriously ill were not coming to the attention of NSW Health or even a local GP as they were reluctant to come forward.

He said the virus was highlighting the inequalities that exist within some communities and some people feared testing positive and consequently losing work.

"The most important thing is to stay alive," he said.

"I say to those people, the federal government and the state government have put up economic packages, there is also lots of other support for you.

"Please, please, please, do not run the risk of dying."

There are currently 1,164 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, with 221 people in intensive care, 94 of whom require ventilation.

NSW Health's Jeremy McAnulty said the bulk of new infections were still emerging in Sydney's west and south west, in particular the suburbs of Auburn, Greenacre, Merrylands, Liverpool, Punchbowl, Granville, Bankstown and Guilford.

A unit block in the suburb of Kingswood in Sydney's west has been locked down after four residents tested positive to COVID-19.

The NSW government has announced 1,262 new cases and seven deaths at its final daily 11:00am COVID-19 press conference.

The daily briefings will cease from tomorrow, despite projected climbing infection and hospitalisation rates.

Included in today's fatalities were a Western Sydney man in his 20s and a south-western Sydney woman in her 40s.

Chief health officer Kerry Chant said the 20-year-old had significant underlying health conditions and was unvaccinated.

According NSW Health's own modelling, infections are anticipated to peak this week and hospitalisations will surge until mid-October.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said the "next couple of months will be the most challenging" and in response to images of crowds gathering at weekend on Sydney's beaches, has asked the community to not become complacent.

"We know that people are tired after the enormous things we've been asking of them, that we must stay the course," Ms Berejiklian said.

"We know the weather adds to our positivity … we cannot let down our guard and as much as we would love to think about things we can offer people between now and [October], we have to take a very safe and cautious approach."

One mention. That likely means the others were vaccinated.

NSW records 1,262 COVID-19 infections,
seven deaths,
as Gladys Berejiklian fields ICAC questions
at final daily press conference

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian cut short her final daily 11:00am press COVID-19 press conference, after announcing 1,262 new cases and seven deaths.
Key points:

The Premier denied she was dodging public scrutiny by cancelling her daily media stand-ups
She ended the press conference 20 minutes early after being questioned about ICAC
New freedoms will come into effect for fully vaccinated people from tomorrow

The daily briefings, which have become a fixture of the pandemic, will cease from tomorrow despite the state government's own projections showing climbing infection and hospitalisation rates.

Included in today's fatalities were a Western Sydney man in his 20s and a south-western Sydney woman in her 40s.

Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant said the 20-year-old had significant underlying health conditions, and was unvaccinated.

On Friday, the Premier said that from now on NSW Health would be publishing daily videos outlining the latest information, and that she and the Health Minister would appear "intermittently" on a "needs basis".

During her final daily appearance on Sunday the Premier rejected suggestions she was going into hiding or avoiding public scrutiny.

She said the government would still be providing "ample information".

"I will not necessarily be the one providing the information on a daily basis, and that is because, as I have said, I need a clear head," Ms Berejiklian said.

"I will still be a regular feature at 11:00am but not every day, and I was very upfront about that.

"I need to make sure the government runs, gets back to its usual processes as quickly as possible … the government has to get used to not running in crisis."

I read about that 20 year old on 3 different websites. Gaurdian buried the underlying conditions at the bottom of the page, news.com.au reported he died WITH covid rather than OF.
