They don't eat Koala. It turns out to be a Sun editorial decision to portray the Chinese as heartless by claiming they do. Setanta at OzPol asked his Chinese daughter-in-law to read what was in the pictures in the articles and it turns out to be a description of how the food is farmed/raised, not about Koala. I apologise for misleading the forum.
