I think a lot of this smack talk and name calling is just Australian culture. I find the honesty refreshing, but when I see personal attacks to each other or even to me, it annoys me. I don't like people opening threads ABOUT other members and I don't like getting PMs talking about other members. Bobby is taking this abuse in more than one forum and I feel sorry for the guy. To some degree, we all make our own beds, but I don't like seeing people piled on unless they are total douchebags with ill intent. I have no authority here and I don't want any, but I felt I had to get this off my chest. OK, as you were, gentlemen.

Ozzies have always engaged in something we call "taking the piss". It's a form of good natured teasing/mocking/joking. It's usually good natured and not meant to be hurtful and offensive.

What you see on the Ozzie forums is different. The personal attacks and name calling are vicious and fully intended to be offensive and hurtful. It's initiated by cowards and is not typical of Australian culture.

I think we all can give as good as we get and
we often do too.
It's part of being online and politics.

In argument yes I agree but not the continual personal attacks. It's cowardly and very low class. I wasn't brought up like that. If people lash out during a heated argument that's one thing but to keep it up for years and continually troll with it shows a lack of self control and a weak character.

Where it gets bad is when they follow you from thread to thread - stalking -
writing off topic or disparaging, personal attack remarks after every post.
Monk and his mongs do that every single day of their lives.
They infest forums like a dose of fleas.
They have nothing better to do.

Australians stuck in India are not being left to the mercy of the world’s worst COVID-19 outbreak, despite new jail terms and massive fines for those seeking to return from India, the treasurer says.

Returning citizens who have been in India in the past two weeks will be threatened with the prison sentence or a $66,000 fine.

The law, the first in Australia’s history making it illegal for citizens to return home, comes into effect from Monday and will be reviewed on May 15.
