Retirement village living with aging-in-place was the best thing they ever did, and I was so glad they did it while they're still healthy and young enough to enjoy it.

Sounds perfect. :)

It absolutely is. I can tell you now, I know where I'll be retiring that's for sure, and I'm even allowed to take my daughter, because I have RA and will tell them she cares for me.
Not that I will need her too, I will have full services in place by then. I have a housekeeper assist me now with the harder jobs.

My parents have just bought another villa, their moving into it in 15 weeks. It has 3 bedrooms, double garage, two bathrooms and is much bigger, but they're keeping the one they're currently living in for family.

Also, the new one is on the other side of the village, which is good, not too close if you get the drift ๐Ÿ˜

Family is great, but I still like having self-time.

Once my daughter finishes secondary college, we're off.

:c

I'd like my daughter to attend the same uni as I did too.

Hey Bobstar, would you like to see some pics of my parents last Friday night at their 60s hippy theme night?

Being the functions coordinators ( my dad does jukebox and also volunteers for the bar, they both do) they must set the standard so always get dressed up.

They're the last to leave the dance floor too, my dad dances like a maniac, an my mum gets in on the act too.

Seriously, parents these days, dunno what to do with them.

Admire them ๐Ÿ™‚ That's what!

I am retired.
I did so well before retirement age.
I did it by selling my house and buying a Unit.
That gave me cash to live on till I can claim the pension and
I don't have lawns to mow, edges to trim, trees to prune, weeds to remove and gutters to clean out.
A unit is hard enough to keep clean - but a house?
A house was too much work for me - I want the easy life.

Exactly Bobby, who wants a massive house to clean anyway? In my 20s having a larger home was something I appreciated, but as you say, the more house the more work, I was working, looking after 2 young kids and cleaning whenever possible. No way could I maintain a large home like that now, I'm happy with the two- bedroom house we're living in.

I don't consider myself retired as I take on casual work still, and am looking after my youngest child, she's 12.
My brain isn't ready for retirement, however due to RA, my body disagrees and so I have to work around my bodies limitations.

I find this annoying, like today for instance, I'm actually having a decent day, Methotrexate wise, and am not feeling unwell so would like to clean my bathrooms only my right elbo and left shoulder are completely frozen.

The elbows what's annoying me today especially.

I'm right handed.

You don't realise just how much you rely on any given joint/limb until you cannot even make a cup of tea with it.

I made a cup of tea with it last week, forgot how weak it was and spilled boiling water all over the bench and floor from the jug.

:roll .......

Elbow will be having physio as of next week, I cannot afford to lose this joint too.

It's the one joint I'll have replaced first, along with my shoulders.

So my body's definitely entering retirement mode, however my brains not on the same page.

I need a body transplant ๐Ÿ˜…

The casual work I take on is Itinerant support teaching, I'm still spreading myself casually across multiple local schools when I'm having good days, however have had to decline 3 days work this week as my elbow is completely frozen.
:nah

So needless to say, I'm a bit out of sorts because this time of year comes with big expenses ( daughterโ€™s dance eisteddfods + hotel accomidation ) ...... we'll be ok, because I'm frugal with money, but the extra cash would have been a bonus, one that I don't think I'll be getting if this currently red swollen elbow is any indication.

It's been problematic for months, however has now completely frozen.

The other elbows sore too, and as with my shoulders, knees, wrists and hands and hips, it too will go.

Fortunately I drive a small car with power steering, so even if it's painful, I can still drive.

My GP suggested that I sling my right arm until I get to RA clinic next week but it will completely freeze if I don't move it at all.

I will be getting 4 ultrasound guided cortisone injections both shoulders and elbows before eisteddfods, just need to time the injections well.
I'll need them for driving, the eisteddfods almost in another state.

Me cynical?

Why never!

:meet ...... Just a bit irritable today because I want to do things my body can't.
Also Methotrexate generally makes me feel bla for a couple of days also. Even when I am not nauseated or tired from it. Takes 48 hours to excrete itself from the system so I'm cytotoxic and just feel bla.

I need to put some music on.

I don't normally get online much on my methotrexate days, which are Tuesday & Wednesday, and I don't accept work on these days either.

:c

Just had to whinge . Sorry. ๐Ÿ˜†
