the United Nations has to meet and pass a resolution banning all
research into bio weapons and allow inspections into every country of
the world where they want to inspect with no hindrance.
That's the only way it will stop.
My bet is that China and maybe the other 4 powers will veto any action like that.
That's the problem - the big 5 seem to do anything they want using veto powers.
The UN has become a useless bunch of pricks but unless
they change - the whole world is fucked -
the next virus could be 100 x as bad.
Consider Covid-19 a mild warning.
Bio weapons are truly monsters that can wipe everyone out.

WHO is part of the UN.
WHO never went to the full UN and demanded bio weapons inspections of China
or any other country apart from Iraq before Gulf War 2.
The WHO needs more powers and it's actually the fault of the 5 main powers:
USA, France , Britain, Russia & China
that all of this has happened on their watch.
They are the ones with the Veto powers.

China is listed as Accession not ratification but I don't think they allow unlimited access to everything.
It's all words.

It was mentioned on Q&A on Monday night.
It's complicated and the lady mentioned that treaties would have to be renegotiated.
It's very complicated and I doubt that China truly opens up everything to scrutiny.
All countries seem to cheat.

There are too many complicated treaties.
There seems to be no such thing as absolutely free access to any building in a country
and the power to force people to answer questions and open computer servers etc.

How do you give the UN power to control countries without the ability to abuse that power unchecked?

I want China to behave as much as the next guy, but short of war our best recourse is to isolate them from our markets and let them go the way of the USSR. I'm talking a trade and/or a cold war.
