fears over aged care reforms

Post by tllwd » Fri Oct 03, 2025 1:22 pm

Regular showers could become unaffordable for some older Australians under contentious changes aimed at making the nation's aged care sector more financially sustainable
...
From November, sweeping reforms to the sector will see wealthier residents forced to pay more for some parts of their care.

Under the government's planned changes, which kick in from November, aged care residents would have to pay between five and 50 per cent of the cost of independence supports.

Labor says the overhaul is aimed at making the sector more financially sustainable over the long term.

I've been concerned about this too Tld but to be honest, Labors still reeling from that poor Ndis family with the two young autistic boys.
They even took their family pets with them poor wretches. Sad 😔

I doubt even this government would want anymore blood on it's hands, and there's the Bondi terrorist tragedy fallout and looming RC findings.

To be honest, I think Labors got itself into a hot wet mess, and is unlikely to want to even see out this final term, Albos probably praying for one of them to topple him, I can't imagine any of them would be feeling overly optimistic about their process.

The wear and tear is showing, he's lost his smugtitude, that overreaching confidence his private speech coach indoctrinated him with before he became PM.

It's highly unlikely he'll finish up at Copacabana now every man and his dog on the coast knows exactly where it is. ... perhaps he should simply rent it to border security, DHS or something, so they can accomidate several Afghanis and their extended families while they await their documentation to be processed?

I'm sure they'd like it very much, assuming they're not living there already.
