El Salvador's Bukele says world leaders being told to take hydroxychloroquine, while public is warned away from it

"We have been advised to take it. While the rest of the world is being advised not to. Why? That’s a question worth asking. Isn’t it?"

President of El Salvador Nayib Bukele told reporters Tuesday that he is taking hydroxychloroquine, the drug touted by President Trump, in an attempt to ward off COVID-19.

Bukele said El Salvador is no longer recommending use of the drug as a treatment, but that he is personally taking it as a prophylactic, according to Reuters.

“I use it as a prophylaxis, President Trump uses it as a prophylaxis, most of the world’s leaders use it as a prophylaxis,” said Bukele.

In high doses its very dangerous particularly for people with any kind of heart or blood pressure issues.

I also suspect it's useless as a treatment particularly when people are seriously ill with COVID, but probably has some effect as a low dose prophylaxis.

According to Bukele world leaders are being told to take it as a preventative. Those who admit to taking it seem to be doing just fine. Unfortunately Boris was a little slow out of the gate but was given it anyway I think.
