Memorable Moments in Film

Post by boxy » Mon Sep 26, 2011 4:52 pm

What are those scenes in movies that stick in the mind as classic moments in popular culture.

1. The torture scene in Reservoir Dogs... I wonder if whoever wrote that song that is playing on the radio, while the sociopathic mobster is hacking off ears and threatening to burn the cop alive, is happy to have the tune forever linked to this scene, in the minds of everyone who has seen it?

2. The Alien busting through the chest.

3. The apes gathering at the Monolith in 2001: A Space Odyssey, representing our inquisitive nature, and the first conceptualisation of tools, and shaping our environment to suit us.

More to come, no doubt... yours?

I love Billy Elliott in it's entirety - a film about a little boy from an impoverished, ignorant family pursuing his love of dancing and achieving his dream. The most memorable moment was at the very end.........not sure if it quite fits into popular culture though.

All of boxy's plus.

- the heroin shoot up and the gimp scene in Pulp Fiction
- The death scene in the bedroom and bath scene in Nighmare in Elm st
- The evil bastard in the Good, the Bad and the Ugly when he is looking at his open watch as they kill the family of someone who grassed him up. The music was perfect for the mood.

You sure that wasn't in A Few Dollars More? Ended with the shootout with Clint holding the watch with the tune ending being the signal for the duel to begin.

Has anyone seen "DRIVE" yet?

There's a couple of memorable moments in that.
