Archibald Prize Winner

Post by Black Orchid » Fri May 10, 2019 7:44 pm

Not what I would have picked. A 10 year old could have done it.

Maybe Archie painted it....you know the royal baby that no-one outside the UK really gives a toss about.....
To discover those who rule over you, first discover those who you cannot criticize...Voltaire

He said it took 2 days to paint.
$100K is good money for 2 days work.
The picture is lousy - it looks like a poor version of a Van Gogh.

It should have been an 'also ran'. He's been a finalist (God knows why) a few times. Maybe they thought his feelings might get hurt if he didn't win

I think it's dreadful and if it's representative of what hangs in the Art Gallery now I will give it a miss.

With all the great art in that contest, they pick a child's painting.

Either they are totally stoned off their faces

Or

They are all pooftahs and the pooftah who painted the crap is being looked after by the other pooftahs.

Or

They are blind, stupid and idiots

My bet is the last.
I have a dream
A world free from the plague of Islam
A world that has never known the horrors of the cult of death.
My hope is that in time, Islam will be nothing but a bad dream

well I do a bit of painting myself....and my teacher always sends in an entry and NO she never gets picked..

she paints like the Packing room boys choice....very realistic....but the judges dont like that..she sent in Jon Stevens this time...I tell her shes not controversial enough...lolol..

some of the entries were dead set creepy...

I will find out next week what she thinks of the winner I know its nothing like her style...

does it appeal to me.. NO would I vote for it No..... they had over 900 entries....

I am not saying its terrible because an awful lot depends on colour and technique and has he captured her innermost feelings of peace....

its hard to tell from a photograph......they should tour the archies...

The Archibald has moved well away from Art. Real Art.
It is now the domain of the Media and it's celebrity show.
Music (Media) is not Art. No more than some Chef (like Ramsey) with a big mouth in a Restaurant is a Politician for all his talk.
