Consent Matters?

Post by Black Orchid » Fri Nov 02, 2018 11:05 am

My son and I were talking about this the other night and I intended to make a topic about it a few days ago but got distracted. Then I saw someone else discussing it elsewhere.

It seems it is in many Unis now but my son was at UTS and he was telling me that unless you undertake their "Consent Matters" course and get 100% you are not able to access your results.

Now considering "sexual harassment" can now be considered anything from an look, a wolf whistle (and anything in between) to actual and REAL sexual assault it bothers me that students pay in excess of $25,000 per year to study (much more for living expenses) and are possibly being held to ransom by more progressive lefty dictates.

There are also huge resources being spent on 'gender' studies but I am not sure if these are also compulsory.

Sigh,,,

Well we let them take over the education system, so we are paying for our own mistakes.

The place is going to pot.

Soon a great many of us will no longer want to live here.

Consent does matter.

Do you, BO, as a woman like the idea of women being subjected to unwanted sexual attention from men?

I as a father, don't want my daughter harassed simply because she is a woman. She is a smart, intelligent woman and deserves every chance in life. Unless consent is sought, she can be subjected to anything up to and including rape and murder.

UTS is right to set criteria for it's students to pass their course. Is this a valid criteria? I believe so.

If young adults of university age don't know about sexual consent by that age they never will. Even without parents it is instilled in every school before they even get to uni.

If "unwanted sexual attention" means sidelong looks and whistles ... get over it and walk on. That is not "sexual harassment".

Those who rape and murder do not seek consent.

Those that rape and murder start out with wolf whistles and cat calls and sidelong looks, BO.

Stop it early, teach them that to take those first steps is wrong and you'll end up with fewer rapes and murders, less domestic abuse.

Most men can learn. Some won't. We should be aiming to decrease the numbers in the last group. We should be aiming to improve the conduct in society and make the relationships between men and women on the basis of consent.

So any man who takes a sidelong look at a woman, or whistles, is going to turn into a rapist? For God's sake what sort of animal community do you live in?

Has the potential to turn into a rapist, BO. I live in a normal Australian suburb. Where do you live?

I live in an area where normal people know what 'consent' is and don't have to attend university to take a class in it in order to get their results.

That was until ... we started importing swarms of morons predominately from countries where rape is 'accepted' and women are oppressed.

Do you think if you say NO to a rapist he (or more likely THEY in this climate) is going to say "oh sorry" and run away?
