My eldest daughter is 18, and complained about only getting a couple of Xmas presents this year.

She has yet to discover my parents christmas stocking at their house which has 20 inexpensive presents.

Whats an acceptable age for kids to stop receiving a trillion presents under the Xmas tree?

I gave her a present, and so did her dad, (thats two gifts)... ... of which was a Play station and a jumbo loom bracelet making kit.

I think I was 16 when I last received my bounty under the Xmas tree.

Whats the age when Santa stops delivering a trillion gifts under the Xmas tree?

My son (age 20) was fine with his couple of gifts.

Boys are always happy to get what they get and dont complain-most girls have a sense of entitlement-- 16 should be the cut off age I think- just one or 2 presents that that they need rather than want, after 16.

I think it all depends on how much they get throughout the Year.

IF you only give Birthday and Christmas gifts, they would expect a bit more "expensive stuff" ....... otherwise. Stop It ... kids that age can buy what they want, when they want ....... with their own Credit card.

CHRISTMAS is for EVERYONE. It is all about GIVING (not receiving) and if your kids didn't GIVE you something (even a box of chocolates) there is something wrong there.

Thinking that "you don't NEED anything" is a non-excuse. Tell your teenage children that you are their MOTHER and expect better ......

I started weaning my kids of a multitude of presents when they got into their middle teens, although it seems that the money I give them seems to increase each year. I feel a bit slack just giving them cash, but rather that than give them something they don't like.

A present is thoughtful - cash isn't. It's hard to break that habit. My generation didn't seem to get much for Xmas at all - so Gen X and Y kids have had it good.
