THE nation's top ironmen are flicking traditional "budgie smugglers" in favour of sexy new racing shorts.

As summer kicks off with a scorcher today - and the old-style togs will no doubt be prevalent on Sydney beaches - budgie smugglers will be no more on the Nutri-Grain ironman series this season.

Athletes will instead sport a sleek, sexier look with tight shorts of hi-tech, more water-resistant material.

They replace the tiny briefs previously worn in the series and which - along with the red and yellow caps - are globally recognised as the uniform of our lifesavers.

Someone needs to tell Abbott about them, although I doubt he'd make the change now. He seems to be very proud of his old budgie or else he would have succumbed to a little modesty by now.

No thanks! I doubt they make bikinis that huge. They are calling Roxon "flabby thighs". I can't say that I have seen a full length picture of her. Only the face and lank, greasy looking hair.
