I don't know what's happening in the other states, but in NSW it's cold and has been for most of this Spring. We're still being warned by the World Bank that the global temperature will increase by 4% this century and still no evidence that this could happen.

Why the World Bank cares is anyone's guess, but offhand it's probably about giving us a warning that they want more money - so expect an even higher cost of living for those on lower incomes.

The World Bank has warned the planet is on track to warm by four degrees this century - causing increasingly extreme heat waves, lower crop yields and rising sea levels - unless significant action is taken to cut greenhouse gas emissions.

In a major report released ahead of the year-end United Nations climate summit in Qatar, the bank says changes associated with four degrees of warming would have dramatic and devastating affects on all parts of the world, including Australia, but that the poor would be most vulnerable.

Scientists say global warming must be kept within two degrees of pre-industrial temperatures to give the world the best chance of avoiding the worst impacts of climate change.

Most of warming occurs in oceans. If the El Nino system had not broken down you would not be whinging about the cold. The Arctic ice extent plumbed new lows this NH summer.

The World Bank, insurance companies, emergency services take AGW very seriously.

Like I said, the Met Office email of just a couple of weeks ago did not mention cooling.

I suppose the Daily Mail were given some land temp data (exluding this year) and ran a beat up from that. The Daily Terror does much the same.

After several blustery attempts to deny the truth the Met office offered this terse statement in 'umble contrition...

The Met Office now confirms on its climate blog that no significant warming has occurred recently: ‘We agree with Mr Rose that there has only been a very small amount of warming in the 21st Century.’
