When is it right to say f---?
When is it right to say f---? Eleven-year-olds asked to grade swear words in class.
I don't see the problem with asking the kids.. fuck they know the words, teaching them when it is appropriate to use them shouldn't be an issue. When I grew up, they were all out of order except in front of your peers. When an adult was around we never swore.
Parents' fury after school asks 11-year-old pupils when it is appropriate to use s---, f--- and p--- in everyday conversation.

Nope, Don't agree.
Kids will be kids and they learn this sort of stuff in the playground. Everyone knows that.
My kids know the swear words and they are very careful that they don't say them- at least when adults are not around.
Other kids and their parents rules are different and that is their right if they don't mind their kids talking like that, but it is up to the individual family to decide what is acceptable or not
Bringing them into the classroom legitimizes them and takes the English teaching system to use the lowest common denominator as a median

The frenzy surrounding **norty werds!!1!** would be the second-greatest piece of evidence to prove the sheer idiocy of the human race (religion, of course, being no.1).
The only people who give these words their potency are........wait for it............THE MORONS WHO SQUEAL ABOUT THEM.
When the squealing subsides, these words become just like any other word. Of course the squealers are too stupid and too righteous to realise this and so the squealing continues and the werds remain norty.

Some parents, particularly in the UK don't educate the kids on the appropriate time and place to swear.
They just swear all the time at inappropriate times in front of anyone.
Asking them when they swear and challenging them in class is appropriate. Education should open to any topic that permits the child to learn how to be a better citizen. Knowing when to swear also improves your life chances.
E.g. Not swear or use gutter slang in a job interview unless you are a Rapper.

They are legitimate words and have legitimate uses... however, taking the subject of swear words to 11 year olds as a point of discussion is nothing more that pulp trash learning... such discussions belong to the older classes for year 11 and 12 students... in context with literature juxtaposed against common day usage.IQS.RLOW wrote:

I will agree with that. I think that at age 11 is more the domain of the parent when it comes to this area. The Artist formerly known as Sappho wrote:They are legitimate words and have legitimate uses... however, taking the subject of swear words to 11 year olds as a point of discussion is nothing more that pulp trash learning... such discussions belong to the older classes for year 11 and 12 students... in context with literature juxtaposed against common day usage.IQS.RLOW wrote:

Far better for the teachers to concentrate on the three R's at that age. I would be pissed as a parent if it was introduced to my kids

That is England though and I would gather a much different proposition to Australia and at a guess, would this school be located in a lower socio-economic area?Super Nova wrote:Some parents, particularly in the UK don't educate the kids on the appropriate time and place to swear.

If we extrapolate your reasoning, would it be ok to teach 11 year olds how to properly have give and receive blowjobs?

Re: When is it right to say f---?
There comes a time that parents have to take responsibility for how their children act and interact. That time has come. If kids swear at home, no amount of trying to teach them when, or when not, to swear will make any inroads.
Too much time already is being taken away from the essential basics in education.
Nowadays they don't get graded properly, they don't get streamed, the only history they are taught is the English 'invasion' etc and many of them can't read, write or add 2 + 2.
If a teacher felt it necessary to take away primary education time to teach a class of 11 year olds about swearing I would consider the school not up to par and remove my child

Re: When is it right to say f---?
Was sitting with a little redhead girl who could barely talk she was so young, the daughter of a restaurant owner I know. We were alone and she started chanting "fuck it, fuck it, fuck it ..." Had a good laff but didn't say anything to the parent.
