I've never really liked beer. To me it all tastes like horse piss, and yet, for some reason I keep buying the shit. I usually stick to the blandest tasting beer I can find, that is, the one that tastes least like beer. Which means, until yesterday, buying Foster's Lager.

But I have reached the promised land, brothers and sisters. I have found the most magnificent beer in the history of the universe.

James. Squire. Porter.

Go buy some right now.

I didn't think they sold Fosters in Australia, any more :)

Drinking an “AltenMünster bier.”

Alt is a beerstyle from Germany: alt = old altbier = beer made the old way, i.e. an ale. Like the cream ales of the US alt is fermented a tad cooler than most ales then, basically, lagered for a while. Münster beers are said to have a high wheat content (so do some Kolsch biers) and I can believe that, has that not quite sour but tangy taste of wheat plus awesome head retention.

Aroma is clean, not fruity, gorgeous noble hop (Tettnanger) aroma, also wheat malt notes in the nose.

Clean, malty flavor, some bitterness (even a VB drinker should be able to cope with this level of bitterness but might be surprised by the fact a beer should have flavor!) Very clean, delicious flavor of German noble hops, good body and mouthfeel. Could drink a lot of this!

Unlike most alts this one is quite pale.

I got my 500ml bottle at Dan Murphies.

BTW: back in this thread I may have recommended Morte Subite as a great lambic brewer. No more, avoid Morte Subite like the plague! Now tastes like VB with rasberry cordial added {shudder}

Naffie prefers box fortified wine, a well known failing of hers.

No, that is Oceans/Auzgurls preference. I don't drink wine, fortified or otherwise.

Yeah, you do. They cost you $30 each, you told me so. I guess the alcohol affects the brain first, then the liver?

You are living proof of that you queer old fuck.

I would say your liver is probably shot from a combination of your anti-psychotic medication and excess consuption of alchohol

Let's hope you die screaming in agony as your fraile old body backs up and drowns in your own piss and bile
