PA is not a failed blog with 3 people on it.

There is no need to roll every thing into off-topic at all.

Off-Topic should be called General Discussion and other threads as wanted by the community.

As it stands all the Public sees is a 3 forum board at the moment why the hell would anyone want to post here.

A cursory look at Ozpol or ANY other successful forum dictates people like at least a little variety in their board.

Even member run forums is a good idea kudos to ozpol for that one.
No harm in letting people host a forum for their hobby or interest in order to build a community. Its doesn't mean it is not a political forum it means its a political community allowing people to share their interests as well.

If all your doing is providing a thread for politics and an offtopic forum if someone wants to post something else you may as well make two forums on ozpol one called PoliticalAnimal.

Here we have George after knocking off the polanimal dot com making suggestions how to make the real PA successful.

Why doesn't George give the dot com back and PA becomes its own again without some dude trying to clone it and give advice how to run the real PA.

Ok, some suggestions:

1. Combine Technology and Off Topic SN just changed it recently. I have no problem with that.

2. Combine Confidential and Members, lose the password nonsense. If you are a member that is enough. Meh...there is only Confidential did I miss the members forum? happy for there to be that extra firewall... perhaps we should withhold the password until they've been a member for 12 months eh...

3. Rename Vortex to Sand Pit, allow guest posting unless idiots abuse that there's already a site with a sandpit, its a copy... delete the vortex it is not required.

4. Archives should be made visible but read only, used to hold older posts goodo

5. Trash should hold vile abuse, pornography and other unsavory posts and, like Mods forum, should be visible to Mods only We don't have trash... unless you count some members. But again it is not necessary

6. Experience shows that abuse, publishing of personal information, obscenities won’t stop unless offenders face sanctions for the abuse etc. AiA didn’t have the guts or enjoyed the abuse and trolling etc and never imposed sanctions. So—what will happen if one member drags in and offends the family of another member or calls a member a motherfucker etc?

If you want a quiet term I suggest you ban me, Aussie and mantra for 11 months. goodo

"On the Tom Toms" is fine with me. Why would anyone want to see who is browsing which forum or, more to the point, who is typing or reading a PM anyway? That in itself was more kindergarten than just taking away the option.

You are half right. I was watching what was going on, never hid that I was doing so.....matra became upset that I could see no more, no less than every other ordinary Member, complained to FD who then stuffed around and produced 'on the tom toms.' It was an over kill on his part, reacting to a complaint from mantra.
