I've been Admin for just over two weeks. I am in no rush, and I am happy to listen to Member suggestions.

The members should be treated as adults for example in having some time to edit their statements, correct typos and the like.

Petitions should have sunset clauses—3 months, if it hasn’t gotten anywhere by then it will just accumulate cobwebs.

Incorporate a set of good posting guidelines which get enforced more strictly in Politics than Off Topic and not worried about too much in the Sand Pit (stuff about misusing nicks etc should be enforced at all levels.) Use of good links to support statements in Politics will help lift the board in Google rankings as well as improve debate.

I don’t like mods not being willing to publicly defend an action of theirs: so an initial complaint may be made by PM after that be prepared to defend said action in OT or chatroom or similar. Anything else is too much like a star chamber.

Talking of Chat Room, don’t think it is a good idea. If people know anyone can see their posts they might lift their game a bit.

While this is a Political board OT is there for a reason—discussion of gardening, food is appropriate. Nothing but nothing is more political than sustainability and food!

You have been admin before. You have promised to re-write the constitution many times. You even made it sound like a threat. So far it has always come to nothing. We are talking years, not weeks. If your intention is to give the members what they want, then going by this thread it is going to come to nothing once more. They aren't going to write it for you Aussie.

Aussie, I suggest instead of trying to rewrite the whole thing, you figure out what needs to be changed, prioritise, and change one thing at a time. Otherwise, if your proposal involves a dozen changes or so, a lot of people may vote against it because they object to one or another of the changes. Every change you tack on will lose votes, not gain them.

I might do exactly what you did freediver....which was to put one whole document together and offer it up............... It seems you now reckon that was dumb of you.
