Like solar "anything" isn't? The only difference between them is that solar is far less efficientThe nuke industry won't invest its own money in nuke power for a very practical reason, nuke power isn't practical. Its a subsidy scam. Nuke power doesn't exist anywhere on Earth without massive government subsidy patronage.

Re: A bit wet
???nuke is now the only way to get that
Re: A bit wet
Nuclear power is the only realistic way we can cut our greenhouse gas emissions. Gen4 is safe enough and produces very little waste.

Re: A bit wet
Fuck greenhouse gases.
Just burn coal like every other nation will continue doing rather than straight jacketing our industries.
Cheap, effective and plentiful
The biggest laugh is these green whiners saying that if we move to a carbon free economy we can export our expensive solutions to the rest of the world. Wadda fucking joke!

Solar thermal?
You would need an installation 20Km by 20Km. Don’t talk so glib about putting in “more solar thermal stations” because they cost way more than building a 4G nuclear.
Gas would give out much less GHG emissions than brown coal but still a lot—and gas will run out one day.
Nope, Nuke it is until we can generate energy in space—huge solar sails with solar cells printed on them. These would be much more efficient because 24/7/365 operation using sunlight not reduced by the atmosphere. All we need is a space elevator, got one of those in your back pocket?

Re: A bit wet
How are the other options not realistic? How is using energy more efficiently not realistic? How is using less of it not realistic? There are plenty of ways to reduce emissions that cost a lot less than nuclear, which is why economists back them. Why are you stuck on one? You even mentioned another very good option in your post, but didn't explain how it is unrealistic.Jovial Monk wrote:Nuclear power is the only realistic way we can cut our greenhouse gas emissions. Feel free to go back to cave living just don't ask me to do it, charge me more or lower my standard of living to accommodate your idealHow is using energy more efficiently not realistic? How is using less of it not realistic?

Look at all these parasite TV stations using footage of the floods in cheap, cheesey promos to claim that they're number 1 in bringing us news. As if the suffering of an entire state is nothing more than a battle for ratings and bragging rights. Pricks and arseholes the lot of them. And I thought the Greens lacked morals.

Hopefully the states will eventually introduce a pro rata system - which has been talked about for years and will apply to those like yourself IQ who refuse to make an effort to cut down on their consumption. If you enjoy being poisoned by radiation in order to maintain your comfort zone - that's your choice and you'll certainly pay for it in more ways than one.IQS.RLOW wrote:Feel free to go back to cave living just don't ask me to do it, charge me more or lower my standard of living to accommodate your idealHow is using energy more efficiently not realistic? The Earth has its own natural magnetic field that surrounds us and its balance is essential for our wellbeing. This natural magnetic field is being rapidly and increasingly distorted by devices that emit electromagnetic radiation; a radiation that is scientifically recognised as causing spacial deformation of the natural magnetic field. Cordless phones, mobile phones and pagers, all inclined to be carried on or close to our bodies, emit such radiation. Domestic and office electrical and electronic equipment emit such radiation into your personal environment. All of us are affected, but children and young people whose brains and bodies are still developing are considered particularly vulnerable to these distortions. There is increasing medical concern over the potential health risks attached to side-effects of our modern convenience technology.
The media has become very offensive and hypocritical in their exploitation of the victims' misery. As if the suffering of an entire state is nothing more than a battle for ratings and bragging rights. Pricks and arseholes the lot of them. And I thought the Greens lacked morals.
