Classic magnification; maximization,...whereby the individual thinks they need to employ Self-dramatization and theatrically employ exaggerated expressions of emotion to convince others they are telling the truth. Often going too far, which presents as being odd to normal 'adult' minded others.

Why would she say she despises a virtual stranger with a vengeance whom she wouldn't know if she fell over them in the street?

Some habitual liars feel so safe lying, and are so accustomed to lying or stretching the truth, they cant tell the truth without lying, or at least exaggerating it in some form or another anymore.

I blame the parents!!

You know those lazy parents who barely notice their kids unless they're on fire or under the back wheels of their 4X4's ....the types of parents who know their kids are talking shit, telling porky pies...yet play along with it and when others remark, they just say "Oh, he just has a good imagination, even if he's 23."


Well, these are the kids who grow up compulsive attention seeking liars.

About 3 years ago my daughter made up this whopper of a story...told me she went to Doyels Watsons Bay with my parents, (which she did)...only she said she caught her own fish off the beach they have there....and the chef cooked it for her at her table........ now whenever i'm in the mood to stir her up...or when ever I think she's in process of starting to exaggerate, or stretch a truth...., I say..."Oh bit like fishing at Doyels is it Em"...Fishing at Doyels has become synonymous with telling porkies in our house...hahahah


She still blushes bright red when I mention fishing at Doyels, in a fun way...she has a little giggle...... just enough to make her think twice about getting carried away and stretching anymore truths.


When they are 3 , 4 6....it's cute....when they are Lisas age, it's neurotic and embarrassing.

Kinda sad in a way really... hmmm

Theres actually a clinical, psychological term to describe the process of over-stretching the truth, we learned about it in behavioral science at uni, so as to determine if patients were exaggerating in order to get prescription medication, or to mask underlying concerns, spousal abuse, etc...but for the life of me I cant recall what it is...

Some people do it because they are genuinely starved of human companionship....are lonely..but Lisa does it to make fools of people, this or meet her social-network requirements ...gets a real kick out of her botched attempts at social engineering.

Got to give her/him points for trying...perhaps it's like a game to her/him these days....hmmm

re aussie, i thought he was quite a fair moderator when he took over, some of his political views confuse me at times though. but over the last couple of months he has changed into this moody, self righteous individual, who has had a very fast trigger finger...i hope he reverts back into the aussie who was easy to get along with. apart from lisa jones i have no problem with anyone on this forum.

Lets try and keep it in perspective, I could be Ivan Milat for all you know...then again, I could be Mother Teresa...(Well, if it weren't for the fact that she's dead)... tell me, what bestowed you with the gift of being able to observe and judge others without having interacted with them, or got to know them at least a little as individuals, on a forum you joined only yesterday?

You must be very clever, if I had your gift, I'd become a forensic criminologist and solve all the worlds crimes over night with the click of my mouse.
