About 250 cardinals are alive today, but those aged over 80 are barred from voting.
That leaves 135 eligible cardinal electors this year, but two have already dropped out.
One is too ill to attend and another has excluded himself after being convicted of embezzlement in 2023.
A record 133 cardinals remain — the previous maximum was 115 in 2013.
Out of those 135 cardinals (now 133) Pope Francis handpicked 108 progressives to stack the vote.
He was rather progressive himself so this doesn't suprise me.
Don't worry BO, I have a feeling that once the left and woke realises that living in sin with eroding social value's wasn't such a great idea, we'll see a major swing to the right.
People need faith and hope, and without having value's humans feel lost and overwhelmed placing their hope in governments and mere mortals, instead of a much higher authority that's stood the test of time.
Especially given the likelihood of global war and poverty.

If the next Pope is a woke puppet like the last one, then I think the Catholic church will suffer greatly.

The Catholic Church has elected its first American pope, the Peru-based Chicago-born Cardinal Robert Prevost, who has taken the name Pope Leo XIV.

A healthy quantity of reform can be a good thing, so long as it's for the right reasons, agenda.
He's also an American, and this is a good thing.
He may not be a Democrat progressive as much as a Republican reformer.
Time will tell I guess.

When I saw that smoke from the chimney.
I thought it was Francis being cremated with fire and brimstone.

Probably mix of antic Rome traditions of Jupiter sacrifice
and/or Vestal fire
and medieval burn the witch custom.
