The formula for calculating the tariff size published by the Office of the US Trade Representative has two additional terms in the denominator — the elasticity of import demand to import prices (ε) and the elasticity of import prices to tariffs (φ).

Trump made a massive boo boo in his figures yesterday. I very much doubt he'll rectify it though.

He claimed the US bought $29 billion of Australian beef. The correct figure is $2 billion. Big difference.
