This happening was a no brainer. I wonder when the class actions will start in NSW re the Ruby Princess deaths. That will be huge!

I think it is mostly "guess work" - suck it and see - nobody really knows what is going on, including the so-called experts.

I find the entire spectrum of legal action against governments quite fascinating.
For a law suit to occur, there must be a cause of action.
The cause of action against a government/government official like any defendant in a civil case, has to be
either:
a)a debt has been incurred/created
b) a tort has occurred (in the case of the Ruby Princess it would be the tort of negligence)
In either a) or b) the cause of action seems to be indefensible.
Therefore any class action should succeed.
If negligence is alleged in a) also it automatically implies that the defendant involved
has made astronomical errors of judgment.
This has been my point from day one.
Our governments have been accepting/seeking/receiving the wrong advice.
In so doing they have already proven themselves to be negligent.
This of course, will be in the courts for years and any judgments will take years
to recover.
The only winners will be the lawyers.
At least the plaintiffs will hopefully, see some accountability.
As will the Australian people.
