I am wondering if DVOs should be accompanied with an ankle bracelet that sends out warning signals
to the police and the victim...when they break the conditions of not approaching....

its time we looked into things like this..those accused of DV are just plain not to be trusted...

perhaps if they know they will be tagged.........it would be a deterrent.

I am disappointed that the former Governor General Quintin Bryce has called for more funding for domestic
violence victims.
Shouldn't she be calling for amendments to the domestic violence legislation which would perhaps
protect the possible victims by tightening up the legal practises and procedures.
Cods has suggested an ankle bracelet...excellent idea..if we have a system which empowers a Court
to order the installation of an interlocking system on vehicles driven by drunk drivers, then why not
have a system where ankle bracelets are a consideration for a Court.
Offenders, where they breach a DVO should not be simply given a Notice to Appear..they should
be arrested and held without bail until they are brought before a Court.
Of course, if the gutless Magistrates in Australia deemed the breach of a DVO with more seriousness and
imposed a more appropriate penalty, then we may get somewhere.
The thought of mandatory sentencing for breaches also comes to mind.
We were once moving towards a National Sex Offenders Register in Australia also...
Perhaps our grubberments are way too incompetent to legislate in these areas...too soft...way too soft....
I will be extremely disappointed if this tragedy doesn't prompt grubberments to take serious
action....

we need to make sure all DVO/AVOs are only given out for real cases and not just jealous payback...

if you park your car illegally it can be clamped and towed away on the spot.......

yet a bloke can bash or terrify his family indefinitely until he appears in court....his life goes on with no restraint..

If a man or women knows they will be wearing an ankle bracelet it may stop them acting violently.....who knows..

I would suggest we make them a standout colour... impossible to remove without a special code for each one....

its time this wasnt covered up....

the idea is to PROTECT the innocent being stalked is just as terrifying as living with them...
