The legislation is a good response to dangerous situations.

Coppers however, need to be educated as to when and where they should turn their lights on when pulling a driver over. They sometimes also need to be told how to address drivers properly.

My brother got pulled over by a copper for speeding once in the Adelaide Hills. The copper got out of his care and came to his driver side window. He leant in and started talking to him. As he did so, he stuck his bum out and the next car going past actually brushed his bum. He told my brother to, "stay put" and jumped back in his car and gave chase. My brother looked 'round and just drove on, using a slightly different route to his destination.
most coppers punch in the rego before getting out of their car....so he was lucky....

if he asked you to stay and then you left... you are committing another crime...
In those days, they didn't have computer terminals in their cars, Cods...
In WHAT DAYS, Brian?
Over twenty years ago, Neferti. You know, when you were once young, spry and perhaps even attractive?

the cops in Australia have a really simple system.

Because they are simply simpletons.

They respond like Pavlov's dog

It go "beep" they go chasy chasy.

I just wish they would stop using Keystones cops movies as training aids.

A speed zone change mid a couple of years ago ( from 80 to 60) for no logical reason.

This was identified as a wonderful revenue raising cops and speed camera cars wreaking a wonderful bonanza.

Policing for profit has reached new heights.
No warning of speed limit change, no indication of a change in conditions
My only warning was a blacked out 80k road marking, further on as you rounded a corner, the sign had been changed to 60, so I slowed down.
Not that it mattered, the cops had two cars and were booking them already.

The next morning, yep, there it was, the $peed $camera car, set up to be hidden on the corner behind the bushes.

Why the change?
Who knows
There were no homes, no changes to roads or changed conditions.
Just an opportunity for some cash.

Policing for profit
The only functional use of corrupt police.

Pretty sure the RTA (or whatever it is called now) sets the speed limits in NSW and not the police. The police are just directed to enforce it.

Yep, and as lapdog for the RTA now the Roads and Marine, the cops drool at the opportunity to go speeding around all over the place to stop people from.....speeding all over the place.

Am I the only one who sees the utter stupidity of that exercise?

Speed camera cars are run by an independent contractor

The same contractor that was summarily kicked out of America for doctoring the readings to get more bookings (ILLEGALLY AND IMMORALY)

Now, remember the tanks have some ability to question authorities and that is how ideas found out.
I good ol Australia, we have ZERO rights.
The same mod known for fiddling the equipment in the USA, is now in Australia.
With no watchdogs to keep them honest, they will do what they like.
You can bet that they will be fiddling the speed cameras, just like they did in the US.

But we have no way to fight them
Dishonesty is our grubberment, in every possible way.

Trust the grubberment just as you trust any thief, criminal and despot

BRING ON THE REVOLUTION.

Cop car "T" boned today

Did a "U" turn in front of an oncoming car, who cleaned him up.
Not severe damage, headlights and cops door.

Apparently he turned on his lights after being hit
But the car that hit him had a dash cam.

Still waiting for it on the news, but nothing yet.

They are probably trying to get their hands on the dash cam footage, if they haven't already got it.

Our law is a little different in TX. We must slow down to 20 mph(32 km/hr) below the posted speed limit when passing in the lane next to emergency vehicles. You can stay at the posted speed limit in the further lanes of traffic if they exist. If the speed limit is 65MPH, you have to slow down to 45MPH or get over a lane away from the cop.

And Texas just outlawed automated traffic camera tickets. The law goes into effect when the existing contracts expire. (within a year or 2)
One must be a rocket engineer to understand that :bgrin
