Re: ★★ THE DAILY CHAT COLUMN ★★
I had an email friend in Houston, TX who was obliged to attend her husband's formal gatherings and she always told me that she needed "duct tape" at these functions. Her other thing was "drink more wine" to solve her problems ... I think they eventually divorced ... Googled her and her address and the house was For Sale/Sold .... years ago. We emailed for many years, then suddenly she disappeared. Ah well.

Adults definitely require duct tape too. They should know better as they age but some just never learn.

I've never used that phrase on my kids.skippy wrote:LOL I like that. I've thought it quite a few times myself.Outlaw Yogi wrote:lisa jones wrote:"I'm over it"... can actually mean "I'm over all the BS".Outlaw Yogi wrote:I love the way people use the expression "I'm over it" when complaining about something that obviously still bothers them quite a bit.
My typical response is "Well, if you've gotten over it, why are you still complaining about it?"
And you'd be saying the same if you've been reading the disgusting misogynistic comments made by Aussie over yonder. The dhead's been outta control for days over there trying to justify the abominable crime of assaulting a woman.
I know exactly what people mean when saying it, but they've got the concept backwards.
Which just gives the impression they have a poor grasp of English language.
Before that incorrect expression became commonly used, quite a few times I'd be in a supermarket or shopping mall and a mother would be trying to deal with a screaming brat. I'd say to the kid "You'll get over it" and the mother would smile.
Where as when I asked the kid "Have you been introduced to duct tape?" they'd give me a look that'd kill a brown dog.
Or on anyone else's kids either.
Why?
It's not nice plus, when kids carry on silly, 9 time out of 10 it means they're buggered and.....hate to say it....OVER IT.

Re: ★★ THE DAILY CHAT COLUMN ★★
Ahhh that reminds me of what happened yesterday.
We're at Bunnings.....going through aisle after aisle, everyone pushing their own trolley. For those who might not know, Bunnings provide little cute trolleys for kids.
After a while, I look around and I notice both our little ones starting to get tired.
Our little boy wasn't able to keep up and kept stopping to rub his eye lids.
Our little Ms Cute and Cheeky lol saw this as an opportunity to race him to the end of the aisle and come 1st (NB SHE IS VERY COMPETITIVE AND HAS TO WIN IN EVERYTHING sigh).
Anyway, she gets to the end of the aisle, turns around to see where her brother is....and notices that she's come 1st. So I asked her, "How do you feel?"
Her answer?
"Ohhhhh buggered."
It was funny.
I was expecting her to say, "I came first again."
When her brother finally caught up. He uttered 3 words. "I'm puffed out."
And you could see they had this I'M OVER IT look on their faces.
We took them home. We had to. Why push the envelope and end up with over tired kids screaming and disturbing everyone else around us? Plus...it's embarrassing.
I don't understand parents who do push the envelope and end up tormenting everyone around them and their screaming kids.
Anyway.....

What a horrible pair...............
Abused Ark. girl zip-tied to bed, believed name was ‘idiot’
A twisted Arkansas couple who zip-tied their 4-year-old daughter to her bed verbally abused her so relentlessly that the tot believed her name was “idiot,” police said.
Jennifer Denen, 30, and her 47-year-old boyfriend, Clarence Reed, were arrested Friday after officers found Denen’s daughter covered in bruises and dried blood.
Officers said the pair used zip ties to strap the girl to her bed — a cruel punishment for climbing on the kitchen cabinets, Ozarks First reported.
Police were called to the couple’s Hot Springs home on a child abuse tip from the Department of Human Services. When cops arrived, the girl had a black eye, a swollen face, dried blood on her head and ligature marks from being tied up.
One cop asked the girl her name.
“Idiot,” she responded.
Another child explained that Denen and Reed called the 4-year-old “idiot instead of using her name,” according to police records.
The girl was placed in protective custody. Denen and Reed were charged with domestic battery, permitting abuse of a minor and endangering welfare of a minor.
