Abortion isn't free and I don't think it ever has been unless you have a sympathetic doctor who believes you have a serious physical or psychological problem and has you admitted into a public hospital. Still - most women if they don't want a baby, will find a way to scrape up the money. Carrying a baby to full term and then dumping it somewhere would carry a much higher emotional price. The girl was 20 - not a 14 year old child.

Some good news. The mother has been charged with attempted murder and refused bail.

The mother was 30 and not only should she know better she should also have been fully aware of alternative options both pre and post birth. The poor little thing has been down that drain for over 5 days. She obviously felt no remorse.
She has been charged with attempted murder and I hope they follow it through without handing her a get out of jail card.

Despite earlier estimates that the boy was 2-3 days old, police will now allege that he is seven days old and was placed into the drain on Tuesday, 24 hours after being born.
If the allegation is true it means he has survived in the drain for five days before being found by a passing cyclist on Sunday morning.
The baby is now in a serious but stable condition at the Westmead Children's Hospital.
Police suspect the baby was squeezed through the drain's narrow opening and dropped about 2.4 metres.

It's amazing the baby survived. It has a strong will to live. I wish it a long and happy life and no contact with it's mother.

Unbelievable that somebody could do that to an innocent baby.

Let's hope this one gets a foster home and never sees the parents again.AiA in Atlanta wrote:unwanted children have a higher propensity to end up in jail.
