From what I hear Steve Jobs had an ego, that's different from faith.

AiA in Atlanta wrote:Without "faith" one can accomplish nothing worthwhile. "Religion" at its best can only support "faith." Steve Jobs had faith as did the people he worked with. Phil Knight at Nike has it as well. Both of these organizations have "religions" that support the "faith."

Neferti, it says it your link that the Australian Woolworth is named after the American Woolworth but is unrelated, but that isn't the point, is it?

The more argumentative religious types often try to do the "science is based on faith, too" thang... but it just doesn't work. The trust that you need, for science to work at it's peak, is based on the fact that anyone with the means can (and is encouraged to) verify results, whereas religious faith is based on acceptance without (despite?) questions.

Almost boxy...
Religious faith, at least in Christianity, is belief without proof.

No, I haven't been into a Woolies for years, so wouldn't know.

Usually I buy supermarket items from IGA. Bit more expensive, but generally less hastle, and I tend to buy so few items that I always get to use the express lane.

Bought some scotch finger biscuits from a Coles recently. The bloody thinks tak ages to go soft when I dunk them in my coffee. Then I read the ingredients. BASTARDS! .. they put canola oil in my biscuits.

Anyway, religion, no matter which one, is a scam.

It amazes me how many people study/investigate Buddhism and fail to recognise Sidhartha Guatamo (Buddha) told people "You have to have faith in yourself".

Y'see all these founders of religions were psychotic.
Abraham reckoned his god Yaweh told him to kill his own son, then changed his mind, or was just testing him. Why would an all knowing omnipotent being need to test the faith of his devotee?
Jesus went out into the desert and had a conversation with Satan.
Buddha was confronted by demons, but then realised the demons came from within .. his own imagination.
Krishna was a liar and philanderer.

Ask yourself when was it that these so called divine personalities had their profound realisations?
Answer: After great hardship.
What generally happens to people during hardship?
Answer: Malnutrition.
What is the most likely cause of mental illness?
Answer: Malnutrition.
If Donald Trump is so close to the Ruskis, why couldn't he get Vladimir Putin to put novichok in Xi Jjinping's lipstick?

Wow, the pope talks of the bullshit we have been fed.

This is the funniest bit.
Christ's birth date is not the only controversy raised by the Pope in his new book – he also said that contrary to the traditional Nativity scene, there were no oxen, donkeys or other animals at Jesus's birth.

Jesus was born years earlier than thought, claims Pope
The entire Christian calendar is based on a miscalculation, the Pope has declared, as he claims in a new book that Jesus was born several years earlier than commonly believed.

Still not sure what AiA is on about here SN... but I'm thinking it is not really about Religion.

Oh and no educated person disputes the lack of an exact birthday/date for Jesus...
How many kids born to blowins, sheltering is a "stable" get their birthdate recorded in history anyway eh?
My guess is no proof is part of the test of faith.
Having proof, negates the faith bit.

Ask the International Baptists. I know one and he believes that Jesus was born in April. Christmas is a farce and a Catholic lie. Mind you he has Bipolar (but actually takes his meds these days). ;)

I thought Christmas had pagan origins. Pagab Romans celebrating Saturnalia which was later refined by Christians, not necessarily Catholics

Nobody NORMAL cares. We just put up the Christmas Tree, go off to the Mall to buy gifts, send cards to people we haven't seen in years/decades and stuff ourselves on Christmas Day. What has religion got to do with a Good Time? ;)
