FD has a point about the superheroes never ending up with a woman - from those I noticed anyway, but perhaps this was because the writers were probably gay. Until 30 years ago homosexuality was illegal - so many of these writers had to stay in the closet. Still if the heroes were portrayed as neuter gender they should stay that way.

Its not often I agree with IQ, but he is right on this. What kid that reads super hero comics even thinks about sexuality? I was a massive fan of the Phantom as a kid, but I never thought about what he got up to when he went to bed.

I disagree about the sexuality of superheroes being ignored. You just did not notice it because it seemed normal. Most male superheroes had a female love interest who was always just out of reach. Except for batman, who had robin. This GL thing probably makes the cartoon balance match real life.
