No straight guy would ever go into a bar in Oxford Street when I lived in Sydney. You out for a bit on the other side. IQ?IQ popping wrote:PS...do not walk into any bar on Oxford street if you want a quiet beer
PPS... The Tool Shed does not sell any Makita or Black and Decker

Where in Melbourne are you living, Mellie? I used to live there donkey's yonks ago.mellie wrote:I miss the old Steak and Kidney, (aka Sydney) it's a pretty city with a number of iconic landmarks where there's plenty to do ... Melbourne's ok,, but Sydney is nicer, this and has more things to do even if you are on a budget.
I lived in the north western suburbs of Sydney, (well away from Coon Scabby)..
Still, home is where the heart is.

Not true Nerf, we dragged a couple of heterosexual males (my friends partners) along with us one night to the Taxi, and what a night that was too.....
A heterosexual male friend of mine came running out of the gents white faced when a hot looking woman in a black mini flopped out her Shlong and started pissing in the trough next to him.
Gosh that was a good night, ...

Didn't go in, just did a walk up and down the strip for a nosy to see what it was like...far too "glamorous" for me. I'm pretty sure they would refuse me entry and visa versaNeferti~ wrote:No straight guy would ever go into a bar in Oxford Street when I lived in Sydney. You out for a bit on the other side. Ha ha. It's a long time since I lived in Sydney (and even longer since I lived in Melbourne).mellie wrote:Not true Nerf, we dragged a couple of heterosexual males (my friends partners) along with us one night to the Taxi, and what a night that was too.....

You didn't say where you live in Melb. Just a general direction will do. I lived beside the sea down there.
Oh, and you are right too, Mellie, the Sydney "accent" is different to the Melbourne one. The Perth "accent" is different again, as is the Adelaide and Brisbane ones. We all have our little idiosyncrasies.

I was joking, mate! Cross dressers who reckon they aren't homosexual wander around that area, I suspect. If you want to know what a gay guy looks like, ask Mantra, she can tell gays by their eyes!IQ popping wrote: Didn't go in, just did a walk up and down the strip for a nosy to see what it was like...far too "glamorous" for me. It's a shame that I can walk through China town and Oxford street as a born and bred Aussie and feel so out of place

Why do you think I am in Canberra (arse end of World) rather than Sydney? Perth is just too far away but that was another option!IQ popping wrote:It's a shame that I can walk through China town and Oxford street as a born and bred Aussie and feel so out of place
I haven't wandered around Sydney for 10+ years .... been up there for stuff (concerts etc) and last time I was there (wandering) I didn't recognise it as the place I left, way back .... Asians everywhere. I imagine it has a fairly large population of "coloured" people too by now.
No doubt Melbourne is similar with the influx of "migrants" and "Asylum seekers". Little Greece no longer exists, it is now little Middle East County.
Not so much here but it is a creeping thing ....... suddenly it all happens.
Like I have said, we need WW3 to sort the chaff from the straw. They are still breeding like rabbits in some areas, including Australia. Bogans are proliferating, What was Howard thinking? No need to answer that.

It's not just Chinatown. Sydney has been totally ruined to the extent I intend leaving and I never thought I would say that
Once upon a time you would see redheads, blondes, ginger nuts, brunettes etc now all you see are black heads. Excuse the pun
Couple that with all the Musallahs occupying old scout and guide halls etc in all suburbs where most taxis and a lot of government buses stop dead and block traffic on a Friday so they can run off and pray, Sydney is unrecognisable
I was born in Sydney and loved Sydney but it just isn't Sydney anymore. Hell it doesn't even resemble 'Australia'

Used to live on Pitt Street in a building called 'Miramar" back in 94-95. Lots of Asians in that building and the hallways reeked of kim chee. Still, have only good memories of that time.
