That's how a fridge/freezer works brainstorm, with heat.
And when fresh meltwater reduces ocean salinity enough, the gulf stream (the pump that runs all ocean currents on Earth) will shut down, causing western Europe to become like Siberia.
Don't take my word for it, the Pentagon submitted a document to the White house on precisely such a scenario in 2004.
Greenhouse/hothouse worlds have a flip side, they cause ice ages.
If Donald Trump is so close to the Ruskis, why couldn't he get Vladimir Putin to put novichok in Xi Jjinping's lipstick?

Arctic ocean is warming up: as ice coverage shrinks more sunlight hits and is absorbed by dark ocean not reflected back into space by white ice/snow.
So Arctic currents/wind patterns change and a lobe of frigid Arctic air escapes the circum Arctic winds and causes the big freeze.
So, AGW is causing the big freeze. Contact the BuMet here and Met Office in UK for more detailed exposition.
I have been assured the Gulf Stream, which makes life in UK/North Europe possible, has not been weakened by the fresh water entering the North Atlantic from the melting icesheets incl the Greenland ones. Not sure I believe it.

Monk, where did you get this assurance? Can you provide the source. I to not believe it wither.
The fact is, the balance has not been tipped yet but when it does, and the warm Gulf Stream stops, the freeze will begin. The current cold weather is a reflection of global warming and is expected to have the effect of warm summers and colder winters. This is the forecast of more extreme weather as the energy in the attmosphere increases, effectively changing the way the wind blows.

Like I said, contact the UK Met office and BuMet here.
It seems to defy belief that enough ice has melted to change weather patterns yet Gulfstream is unchanged. That said, just how do you measure the Gulf Stream?
Even with the big freeze, overall the N Hemis winters are warmer than they used to be. The pine bark beetle has been chomping its way through Canadian softwood forests by the square mile—winters are no longer cold enough to kill 99% of the things and it is present in plague proportions. Not just Canada either, they are also munching on softwoods in US and probably in Siberia etc.
