Stock market crash

Post by Bobby » Fri Apr 04, 2025 8:34 am

The Stock market has crashed.

https://edition.cnn.com/politics/live-n ... 3713869569

The Dow fell 1,679 points, or 3.98%. The broader S&P 500 was down by 4.84% and the tech-heavy Nasdaq plunged 5.97%. All three major indexes posted their biggest single-day drop since 2020.

The End Times as prophesied in the Book of Revelation:
Plague - Covid , pestilence, earthquakes - look at Thailand now, floods, war,
talk of war - look at Iran, Israel and Ukraine, poverty, death.
The 4 horsemen of the apocalypse are marching forward as we speak.
Repent for the end is nigh.

I asked AI about "AI bubble".
Here is the answer:
Ah, gotcha. The “AI is overhyped” take — yeah, that’s a big conversation right now. There's a lot of noise, a lot of inflated promises, and some real concerns that we’re in an **AI bubble** that might eventually pop. Here's a quick breakdown of that argument:

---

### 💭 Why People Say AI Is Overhyped:

**1. Sky-high valuations with unclear business models**
Startups slap “AI” onto anything and raise millions—even if they’re just wrapping a UI around GPT. Investors are pouring money in, but it's not always clear where the real value is.

**2. Tech that's cool, but not game-changing** (yet)
A lot of current AI tools (especially generative AI) are impressive, but many still require lots of human oversight and aren’t quite replacing jobs or industries wholesale like the hype suggests.

**3. Productivity promises vs. real results**
Companies are trying to plug AI into everything, but not all see the big productivity gains they expected. In some cases, AI just adds complexity or shifts tasks around instead of removing them.

**4. “Magic” perception that ignores limitations**
There’s a tendency to treat AI like it’s nearly sentient. But the truth is, most of these models don’t understand—they just predict. Errors, hallucinations, and bias are still huge issues.

**5. Hype cycles always overpromise**
Every tech shift goes through a hype cycle:
- Early innovation
- Massive buzz
- Disillusionment
- Then steady, more realistic growth
A lot of people think we’re right at that “peak of inflated expectations” now.

---

### 📈 But There *Is* Real Potential

Even critics usually agree that:
- AI **isn’t going away**
- It *is* transforming some areas (like code generation, customer service, search, design, etc.)
- The real impact might just be **slower** and **less flashy** than the hype implies

---

Curious to hear where you're at with it—are you skeptical, hopeful, tired of the hype, or just watching it all play out?

I wish you could turn off AI on google. It's at the top of the page on every search. I usually ignore it and scroll down but yesterday I searched something about a tv program I was watching and read the AI input. It was absolute balderdash!

How to remove AI results from appearing at the top of Google search results. Bonus tip: preventing TikTok videos from appearing in the search results if you don't want those either.

Thank you tllwd. Got one for Firefox? I use Firefox and I think I need to download an extension in order to do it and I'm reluctant to do that.

That's not much of a crash. Just wait and see what happens when Trump revalues gold! :rofl

Yes, FF requires extension.
So I did some experimentation as in https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2024/05 ... -for-good/
I went to FF settings > Search>Search shortcuts, in "keyword" column double click "Google" row and added

Code: Select all

https://www.google.com/search?q=%s&udm=14

byeAI.gif
After that when start to type text in address bar it drops option below to choose a search engine, click "G" icon and search result appears without AI.

It seems to work but I have not done extensive testing yet.
