A teenager who murdered a mother-of-two after breaking into her home had been previously convicted of dozens of offences but had not spent a day in custody.
Emma Lovell, 41, was fatally stabbed in the heart after two boys, then both 17, broke into her home north of Brisbane at about 11.30pm on Boxing Day in 2022.
One teen, who cannot be named for legal reasons, regularly breached probation orders even as he attended court-ordered weekly sessions in a program called Changing Habits and Reaching Targets.
The now 19-year-old, who already had a long criminal history when he broke into the Lovell family's home, pleaded guilty to murder, burglary by break-in while armed and in company, malicious act with intent and assault occasioning bodily harm.
Justice Tom Sullivan sentenced him to 14 years behind bars
with a non-parole period of almost 10 years in the Supreme Court in Brisbane on Monday.
It was one of the longest prison terms issued to a juvenile offender.

Why do the news services play along with the censorship?
Are they journalists or meek little mice?

Emma Lovell was murdered by a teenager in her front yard.
Her family says they've had their 'futures robbed'

For seven months after Emma Lovell's murder, her husband Lee and their two daughters slept in the same room in fear someone would return.
The 41-year-old was stabbed in the heart in front of their house, north of Brisbane, after a violent home invasion just before midnight on Boxing Day, 2022.
The teenager who killed her, and stabbed Lee, had been on a three-day bender when he entered the house armed with a knife.
Paramedics performed heart surgery on the front lawn, but couldn't save Emma's life.
Yesterday, the teen was sentenced to 14 years in jail for what was described by Justice Tom Sullivan as a "particularly heinous" crime.
When Lee saw the teenager in court for the first time, he almost couldn't take his eyes off him.

Someone needs to be held accountable for this injustice.

Re: Censorship of murder
Well it's not the fault of Cops.
They want them put in Gaol.
But the Courts just put them back on the street.
If its an excuse about Gaols being 'full'. Then maybe money should be spent on more Gaols rather than an Abo Flag on the Bridge, the Yes Vote and billions on American Submarines, etc.

Re: Censorship of murder
Bring in the Death Penalty and the crimes here will become more extreme. Countries with the death penalty have the highest violence in them.
Life in Gaol - with as much sensory deprivation as possible (no 'life') is the better alternative. Put them to work as well. Make them wish they were dead.
