So now theyre trying to get men to take more paid parental leave as the balance needs to be adjusted.

"Mothers take 95% of the primary carers leave in Australia, and a lack of legislated shared parental leave, traditional gender roles and the gender pay gap are all working to prevent fathers from taking on the role, a report published on Tuesday says.

An analysis of Australian Bureau of Statistics employment and time-use data found that the birth of a child had little impact on the employment of fathers – just one in 20 fathers took primary parental leave, a low proportion by global standards.

This trend was seen most clearly when comparing time-use data for mothers and fathers, and contrasting this with their time-use in the year before they had their first child. “The number of hours fathers spend in employment remains at the same level before and after having children,” the report found. “Fathers do spend time on parenting and childcare when they have young children, fitting this time around their hours of employment.”

Tell you what girls...why dont you just take all the fkn jobs...and us men will sit at home 24/7 and raise the kids....

I don't believe in maternal/paternal leave anyway. Waste of money. If you want to have kids fine but I see no reason to be paid for it.

What happened to the day when, if you needed a baby sitter, you paid for one yourself....
After all, its a personal expense...whether its a nite out or both parents have to work....
Paid parental leave is just another burden on the employer....
When my wife worked, I got a baby sitter in...today all the kids are in Childcare and the government
subsidizes it all..just to secure the female vote....
But I digress....

OK none of it panders to you personally...but youd have to agree that the governments in Australia, generally speaking

I think it is more a matter of pandering to the 'progressive' vote which is male and female.

Most of those lobbying the SSM movement weren't gay etc. I see men insisting women should be on a quota system to be in the police force or the defence force on the front line, to be in parliament. They lobby for transgenders to participate in women's sport. It's not all women lobbying for these things and I agree with exactly none of it.
