NorCal Bushfires

Post by Black Orchid » Tue Nov 20, 2018 7:40 pm

As firefighters begin to contain the deadly fires that have devastated California, the heroic effort of a bus driver that rescued 22 schoolchildren has emerged.

Some 77 people have perished in the blaze but there are, as of Sunday, a further 993 still missing.

So many missing. This could easily happen here even on a much smaller scale.

When we lived up the north coast in the middle of a state forest the local authorities had not a clue about backburning. They would come out from town, light fires everywhere, sit and have coffee and then go home. The residents had to put up with the aftermath if the weather changed. It was disgraceful.
