TWO years before he was abducted and believed murdered, William Tyrrell was hidden for three months by his biological parents.

Scared he was about to be removed by authorities, parents Karlie Tyrrell and Brendan Collins took William at the age of around eight months old and hid him in a granny flat, according to his grandmother Natalie Collins.

Ms Collins told news.com.au: “I should have taken him myself and I would still have him.”

According to Ms Collins her son and partner were threatened with the removal of William by Family and Community Services welfare officers in 2011, more than two years before he would become the subject of one of Australia’s biggest manhunts.

In a bid to keep their beloved child in their care they kept him hidden for three months in a dwelling on a western Sydney property.

However the parents were eventually spotted in a northwestern Sydney suburb, William’s location was discovered and he was taken into care.
William was removed around the age of eight months and placed with the foster care family with whom he was living when he was abducted.

The disappearance of the then three-year-old from a quiet cul-de-sac in the NSW mid north coast town of Kendall sparked an intense and ongoing homicide investigation.

There is no suggestion any member of William’s foster or biological family had anything to do with his disappearance.

Ms Collins also said that on William’s last access visit with her son and Karlie’s parents, in August 2014, the little boy wasn’t happy and wanted to be with his father.

While the now estranged couple, Karlie and Brendan, have both been in trouble with the law over the last few months, Ms Collin said this did not detract from her son’s grief over the disappearance of William.

Natalie previously told news.com.au that on the morning William was abducted from his foster grandmother’s house, a change of plans had occurred at the last minute.

On the morning he vanished, Natalie said she was later told that plans were changed and that William and another sibling were taken out of child care in Sydney for “a surprise”.

“They were taken out of preschool early for a surprise visit ... to the carer grandmother,” she said.

This last-minute change had placed him at the house from where he was abducted.

While some reports have previously claimed that Brendan did not know his son well because he had spent most of William’s childhood in prison, Natalie insists this is not true and said her son was still suffering the debilitating effects of losing his son.

Brendan Collins is due to be released soon from prison after serving a two-month non-parole period of a seven-month sentence for theft and minor drug offences.

Natalie said that after William was finally removed from Brendan and Karlie’s care, the pair had infrequent visiting rights and could only see him at a public shopping centre near Ryde.

“Karlie and Brendan could see William for one hour every seven or eight weeks at the Macquarie Centre,” Natalie said.

“The last time they saw him, William yelled: ‘Daddy, Daddy, Daddy’ and jumped out of the pram like a kangaroo.

“William loved his dad. There was a real bond.”

NSW Police Strike Force Rosann has an open and active investigation into the mystery of William Tyrrell’s abduction.

News.com.au revealed last month that one man named as a person of interest in the case, convicted paedophile Tony Jones, had been released from prison.

In 2015, Jones was convicted and sentenced for the aggravated indecent assault of an 11-year-old girl.

He was sentenced to a maximum three years in prison, but he is back living in the community.

He has previously ­denied any involvement in William’s disappearance.

Poor little boy. I doubt that they will ever find out what happened to him ... unless somebody who has a clue says something. Isn't there a reward for information?

They keep getting new leads as to where to dig for the remains of poor little William. I wonder where these leads are coming from and just hope they lead to capturing the perpetrator. It's been 4 years.

NO they havent caught the swine yet.....but reading the news every prisoner can do a deal to save us money....and get them a shorter sentence...

yep even paedophiles
