The Colonoscopy

Post by Neferti » Wed Nov 23, 2016 4:38 pm

IF you haven't had one of these procedures, you are unique. This procedure has overtaken the mandatory x-ray. It is keeping the Gastroenterologists occupied.

The absolute worse part of it is the few days before and the prep procedure and drinking the ghastly stuff by LITRES and then the Russian squirts. The procedure itself is painless.

Unfortunately, because I had "scar tissue" from an operation many years ago, the colonoscopy could not be completed ... so the following week, I had to go through the "prep" thing, again, to have a colonography. There was no IV with this procedure .... a tube up the arse and the pumping of gas or whatever through the colon .... then the MRI thingie.

Embarrassing but you get used to being probed and undressed ...

I am fine, a polyps removed from the original colonoscopy (came up as non-cancerous) and the colonography found 2 more but recommended that I wait another 2 years before having another procedure.

Somewhere along the lines, I gather that BOWEL CANCER is on the Government's radar .... none of this cost me anything.

In the last 4 year I have had a couple now. Pulps removed ...etc.

I agree, not much fun drinking that stuff and running to the loo for a couple of hours.

The procedures I have had they gave me something that didn't knock me out but I don't remember any of it. Also felt like I was stoned for a few hours afterward.

Not bothered by them now.

In Dubai I was speaking to my last assman when he suggested I need to use suppositories and I said I don't really like the idea of sticking things up there, he laughed and conveyed a couple of stories where the locals here threaten to take him to the cops because he was promoting gay behavior. he said some went nuts when he suggested he needed to shove stuff up their backside and have a look and they need to stuff stuff up there themselves.

He felt they "protested too much"

My Gastroenterologist told me to take Metamucil to "clean the system".

The prep for them is, by far, the worst part of the whole thing. Not even so much the outcome of the prep because that is to be expected. The taste of it is DISGUSTING!!! Gag material. ARGH!

Maybe he needs a light on a flexible stick to find it.

When I was told I should have a colonoscopy, earlier this year, I thought I was "special" and scared about bowel cancer. Then, when I mentioned it EVERYBODY had already had one of these things.

Same here. until I had one I thought no-one else had. Because that area is not discussed often, it is rarely discussed at the dinner table.
