With a group of friends went to Kenji "modern Japanese" restaurant last night (SE end of Hutt St, Adelaide.)
Man was it gooood! First up, oysters three ways, a Japanese vinaigrette, spring onion & chili and a grapefruit granache. Never had better oysters!
Next a smoked-tea duck with aromatic red rice etc and some sprouts or something (can't remember the details) with quandong halves
Then decided to go for desert: green tea and warm chocolate soft pudding. Made fresh to order. Oh god, rich chocolate oozing out, little jug of pouring cream and a hazelnut with pomegranate icecream in a tiny dish, to clean the palate and stop the chocolate becoming cloying. Must admit didn't notice the green tea at all, maybe next time. We were having a good time talking & laughing etc
We shared stuff a bit, all of it was good. Might go for the wagyu beef next time, it was outstanding amongst all the other outstanding dishes.
With a stubby of Little Creatures Pale Ale (crap, they are adding hardly any hops these days) it cost me $71 and I left a $4 tip
Oh so yummy Japanese food!

I lost 15 pounds when I lived in Japan.

Is that the one where you select frozen food and they cook everything in front of you?
