I've never seriously considered a world government a reality in my lifetime but I think it's highly likely in the future. It may be the only way man survives the global heat wave the planet is likely to have in the next hundred or so years.

We are short term thinkers by nature (our lifespan at most) and we need global leadership to survive the long term.

If you elect me King of the world I'll fix it for the majority.

Ah the denialist dreamers... global warming again huh.
I'd bet that the next Ice Age will occur before we have any sort of catastrophic warming caused by man.
It would also probably occur before we ever have a world government.
After that... unless there have been major changes in how we as individuals, states, nations, global regions, and worldwide cooperate and adapt, then those who are left after the ice age will also not form a World Government because there wont be a need or that many of them.

As for the topic. The UN is a prime example of vested interests conflicting interests and no cooperation. It is riddled with agenda pushers and the corrupt. If this body as it stands now is supposed to be representative of the best of us... well... lots of improvement needed.

Oh and as an after-thought... the UN via the IPCC has created a scam in which global wealth redistribution is the the intended outcome... it's called AGW, Climate Change.
