I cant believe they are making this film in three parts, much less contemplated a trilogy.
I have read the book twice, this and struggle to understand why this story needs to be told in three movies.
I'll be seeing it anyway, (being a fan of the book).. though I still think three parts is a bit of an over-kill...and if they add anymore to the story, this and decide to deviate from the book in any way I wont be impressed.

Prepare to be unimpressed then.
However it looks like a hit... so I have to see it now no matter wath the review say.
NEW YORK — Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit led the box office with a haul of $84.6 million, a record-setting opening better than the three previous Lord of the Rings films.
The Warner Bros. Middle earth epic was the biggest December opening ever, surpassing Will Smith’s I Am Legend, which opened with $77.2 million in 2007, according to studio estimates Sunday. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey also passed the December opening of Avatar, which opened with $77 million. Internationally, The Hobbit also added $138.2 million, for an impressive global debut of $223 million.

Saw it. Am sure I will see the other 2 but don't have the anticipation I did for LOTR. Peter Jackson and the studio can make 3 times the money with 3 films even if it means filling the films with tedious non-essential scenes.

Only 4 more sleeps to go... I cant decide where i'll see it, IMAX Theatre Sydney, or Gold class Event cinemas Castle hill.
It's a bummer, we have family staying with us over Christmas, and they will still be here on Boxing day, so I wont be one of the first to see it unfortunately.
My son has already seen it, though this is one movie I refuse to watch anywhere other than a decent cinema.
So whoever gets to see it on Boxing day, let us know how it goes.
It better not stray too far from Tolkiens story line....

Well may you roll your eyes. It's a ridiculous expectation. Film is a different medium. They tried to jam too much of the book into the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Making it way too long. A book, you can put down and come back to it later.
