My kids never wanted to dress in pink shoes or dresses. Not because I am homophobic or wouldn't allow it .. but simply because it never came up. They dressed in super hero costumes etc

There was one boy in the neighbourhood who dressed in his sister's clothes. He was home schooled and his parents were weird. He would stand out on the footpath in a dress when the school bus went by

Sorry but I think most of this BS comes from the parents

Parents still have "control" surely? Why would a little boy want to dress up as a girl? Alternatively, why would a little girl want to dress up as a clown? Sorry, couldn't think of any male person that a girl of 4 or 5 would want to be. :rofl

Exactly. So why would a parent actually BUY pink girl shoes for a pre-school boy (even if for only $5) ? To save a tantrum? In my day, children weren't allowed to get "whatever they wanted". Parents had some control about what the kids were "allowed" to have. A"friend" who got everything I wanted did NOT work in my day (as in "everybody"is allowed to, etcetera) and it wouldn't work now, either. Surely? :rofl
