Changes to sex education in schools

Isn't the whole idea behind education, that you teach people what they need to know before they actually need it? I fail to see how supporting such a stance is deviancy?

I had a friend at 11 who discussed her sexual feelings with us and none of us had a clue what she was talking about, which in retrospect was a good thing, but she didn't have a mother. We probably gave her the wrong advice.

Maybe 11 isn't too young for some children especially with all the exposure they get to sex from the media. A lot of parents are too busy to talk to their children - particularly fathers. It might help some children.

You don't have to dumb down the whole education process to cater for minorities or scare kids but nice to see your leftwing gooberishness comes out in full force as soon as you are confronted with actually thinking, doesn't it

Maybe they should just make available sex ed counsellors to younger kids. Obviously many parents are too useless to impart even basic knowledge to their kids and expect schools to teach them everything from tying their shoelaces, wiping their noses to how to behave acceptably. That way they can speak privately with a counsellor/teacher and not leave themselves open to bullying and/or ridicule (which seems to be rampant) if they ask questions their peers may deem silly. They already get sex ed in high school

Most find what they want on the internet but there must be many kids who don't have a computer at home. We tend to forget about them

The curriculum has been crap for years in the public sector and very little time is given to the 3 r's and that is definitely showing up across the board now. Too much time already is being taken up with kids of all levels being dumped into the same class and the slower ones needing more attention, aboriginal studies year after year (FAR TOO MUCH time is spent on it) and now we have a generation of kids who can't add up without a calculator, have no clue about grammar and cannot spell

Regardless, kids as young as 11 or 12 are being accused of RAPE. Must be the hormones in the vegies. When I was a kid, boys of that age were still sooks and running to Mummy with a skinned knee. Plus they were shorter than I was. No girl of 12 would be interested in a 12 year old boy!

You poor 'ting. LOL I had no interest in boys until I was about 18. Had lots interested in me but really, I cared less about having a boyfriend when I was at school. Uni was a bit different though.
