If he's outside - he's probably barking at ghosts or cats. Bring him inside at night and you'll probably never hear another peep out of him.

Yup, let Demi (or earlier my chihuahua) out at night and if she is left alone a bit will bark, probably in reply to some other dog in the neighborhood. Bring her in to the porch where she sleeps no probs--except once, either a cat or perhaps an intruder and she was barking her head off, but that was only once.

Dogs bark a lot if they are bored.

Take the beagle for some good long walks (10-15Km) and it will be fine.

I'm allergic to cats, and they know it, the buggers! They seem to like cosying up to people that don't go looking to pet them.

Georgie boy is a Christmas "gift", sister had too many pups, and had to get rid of them... yeah, thanks a lot... little bugger was even car sick on the way home too  But at least she got the message, and all their dogs are now desexed, and he grew on me. Dogs have a way of doing that, they're pack animals, they do their best to fit in, and help out.

Cats have always struck me as selfish SOBs, only in a relationship for what they can get out of it.

Jack Russells are great little dogs, full of energy and pluck and a lot of fun (Demi is half Jack Russell but lacks the pluck (and the brains I sometimes think :) ))

Beagles are great looking dogs but as dumb as JM. They are impossible to teach anything to.
