Illegal Wild Life Trade

Post by Neferti » Wed Apr 01, 2015 4:14 pm

This is disgusting!
The glass eyes stare out from the head of the tiger. Its mouth is painted a garish red, its tongue glued in place — one more victim of wildlife trafficking now sitting on a shelf in a warehouse in Colorado.

The US Fish and Wildlife Service runs the Property Repository 30km outside Denver.

About 1.5 million animals, or parts of animals, are here — lions, tigers, rhinos and elephants.

Their feet have been turned into garbage cans or holders for ashtrays, their horns into medicine to cure hangovers.

Abuse of greyhounds?

They just found a mass grave of greyhounds in Queensland. Animal abuse inflicted by humans in general is appalling. Humans are the scum of the earth.

In Spain ...

Yes, well as usual, Boxy makes a snide comment and expects me to read his mind. :rofl Sorry, Boxhead, I am not a mind-reader.

I have now seen a headline about "greyhounds" in Queensland. Disgusting. I am an animal lover. How could any human being do such a thing? Perhaps it is a Queensland thing? They are quite strange up there, I blame the "beautiful weather", it goes to their heads and shrinks their brains. :rofl

I have notice a coloration between latitude and attitude.

The warmer the climate the more backwards the population is.

E.g. Compare Northern USA with the deep south.
Compare Melbourne to north of Brisbane.
Compare cape town to central Africa
Compare England to North Africa.

many people see animals as a resource and do not think of them as living beings that feel and can have emotions. They are just resources for human exploitation until they are all gone.

Greed and short term thinking around our own short term lives drives this. Only the more educated can see the longer term and have a feeling we are the custodians of the planet and life.

Snide? Well, OK then, Princess (there, that's snide, for future reference).

Just thought I'd mention the elephant in the room. Surprised you've missed any mention of greyhound racing over the past month or two.

Greyhound racing probably needs to be an amateur gig, run by people who love the dogs, rather than make a living off them. It is a beautiful sport, at it's basis. Dogs doing what dogs do naturally.

What do you do with all the dogs, once they stop paying for their board, if all you're in it for is the money? Slow horses go to the knackery... slow dogs go to the pound, if they're lucky.

The slaughter of greyhounds is not new. When they've passed their used by date or aren't performing - most of them would end up the same way, but usually with their ears cut off so they can't be identified. Live bait, although illegal, has always been used too. Both horse and greyhound racing are cruel sports.

... thus St Patrick's Day is a celebration of environmental vandalism. Seeing as St Patrick is credited with driving all the snakes from Ireland.

I think Greyhounds shuld be allowed to do what they were bred for - to run and kill rabbits.

Problem is rabbits are illegal in Qld ... so if you want one, you've got to go bush and catch one.
